Training Calendar

Training is designed to equip volunteers to rescue, rehabilitate and release native wildlife in the ACT. Whether you have never touched a native animal or have experience with native wildlife, our courses will teach the skills needed to begin to care or to take you to the next level.

Sewing Group

This training covers some of the recognised tactics used to rescue uncontained animals.

August

Sunday 11 August 9:00am

An introduction to possums and gliders and how to rescue and care for sick and injured ones.

This course is offered to people wanting to expand their knowledge of care for birds beyond the basic level of care.

Basic Bird Training

Saturday 24 August 9:00am

This is the recommended training to take for new carers because 80% of animals in ACT Wildlife’s care are birds.

September

Basic Bat Training

Sunday 15 September 8:30am

Introduction to bats of the ACT, (microbats and Flying Foxes). Deals with essential requirements plus rescue, rehabilitation and release.

Practical Birds

Saturday 28 September 1:00pm

We will be demonstrating handling, rehydration, crop feeding and other skills you need to care for birds with ACT Wildlife.

Wombat Care for Beginners

Sunday 29 September 9:00am

If you want to become a wombat carer, this in person hands on course is a must! This can be the start of a very fulfilling wildlife journey.

October

Reptile Care

Sunday 6 October 1:00pm

This training includes the rescue and care for the reptiles of the ACT. It does not include snakes as part of the course.
